So. The faculty intramural soccer team (“A Useful Education”) is out of the playoffs, after we went down 3-1 against the defending champs in the semifinals. Not too shabby. And we were keeping up w/ ’em most of the game.
One downside, however, is that I cracked my head while trying to flick the ball into the net. I didn’t realize the goalie had come out, and though I didn’t jump or lunge or anything of the sort, we collided. He’s fine. I got the worst of it.
Honestly? I think it looked much worse than it is. But my teammates thought I needed stitches (turns out they were right). Since I actually have insurance now (woohoo!), I agreed to go. Kudos to Em for taking me.
And thus I was introduced to the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Apparently, it was as bad as my teammates thought. I couldn’t tell, of course, since I never stopped to look in a mirror (someone very quickly bandaged up my head on the side of the field) until it was all cleaned up & the stitches (all eight of ’em) were in. I may not be as pretty was I used to be, but I’m sure I’ll be fine.
