Facebook primaries

July 5, 2007
Tags:

This is the latest installment of the Facebook primaries updates (after a month’s absence). I’ve been keeping track of primary presidential candidates’ Facebook profiles, taking a periodic tracking of their number of “supporters” (i.e. “friends”). Note that Rudy Giuliani still has no profile; most likely this hides a large share of GOP support headed into the primaries (though one would expect Facebook users to lean Democratic).

Democrats

Republicans

Honestly, at this point anyone w/o at least 1,000 Facebook friends should pack it up & go home. If they don’t have at least 250 people on their staff, who can talk at least three of their friends to support their candidate, then they don’t have a chance.

It is interesting how much the Facebook users lean Dem. It would also be interesting to compare overall internet user support between Dems and Reps.

For example, how much campaign donations come in via
the internet for Dems vs Reps?

Or how many blogs, personal web pages, etc--show support for a Dem vs Rep candidate?

    Hola Miguel
