Ikea & sweater weather

It’s a hectic weekend. Yesterday, we rented a van, to drive to the nearest Ikea (two hours away) for a number of household & baby related items. Today, I’ll spend most of the day assembling Swedish furniture. At least we have a crib now. And I’ll have a real dresser, rather than wire boxes. Slowly but surely, our apartment no longer looks like graduate student housing.

The rest of the week will be a mad dash. Besides prepping for classes, I’m hoping to clear most of my remaining “to do” items (which keeps getting longer!) so that I can focus on editing my book manuscript. I assume I’ll get little done after Javi’s born. So I’d better be ready. The manuscript needs to be out by end of December.

Fortunately, the season’s finally turning. Fall (my favorite season) is almost here. Driving to Ikea we listened to Sufjan Stevens (the Michigan album) & I became very nostalgic. Fall in Carlisle’s just not the same as fall in Michigan. Sigh. But we’re planning a vacation to Petoskey in a year or so.

Shall I make your nostalgia worse - I just spent an afternoon at the lake down in South Haven. On the drive there we saw the early signs of fall and passed by Gene, the pumpkin man. ;)
But I myself have only 3 more days here in MI (today included) :(

So the baby's name is gonna be Javi??

Take care, Miguel. And good luck with your projects.

I certainly know what you mean about misssing Michigan fall. ah, here it is spring, 90 degree weather!
