A long week in a long month

February 13, 2008

My parents leave town tomorrow & start heading back to Bolivia. It’s been good having them here these past two weeks, even if it’s been hectic. But I’m certainly going to miss them—especially since we might not see each other again for another year.

Mom & Javi Me, Dad, Javi Me, K8, Javi Mom, Dad, Javi Mom, Dad, Javi

Yesterday I was in Maryland (and drove back through an ice storm). Today I’m playing catch-up in my office. Tomorrow we drive my parents down to Wilmington (DE), before heading up on Friday to Connecticut for a family wedding. We might be back home again on Sunday, tired.

It’s funny how the shortest month of the year can already seem so long.

Javi's a beautiful baby! Hope your parents are able to steer clear of the effects of the flooding once they're back in Bolivia.

In that picture of you, Kate, and Javi you all look similiar. Did you plan on having everyone wear stripes? It's a cute picture. I also notice you and Kate don't seem to be into the traditional baby attire. :)

No, we didn't plan the matching stripes theme. But we do have "traditional" baby attire (though I'm not entirely sure what that means). Part of the problem is that most baby clothes today look like grown up clothes. Also, Javi hasn't fit into his 3-month-old clothes since he was three weeks old!

By "traditional" I meant the baby clothes with cutesy things: trucks, pastels, cars, cartoons, and things with cute sayings. I think it's mostly girl clothes that are still cutesy and traditional. I think you're right and boys clothes tend to look more like grown up clothes.

When I took a parenting class the best advice I ever heard from moms was to get clothes in all sorts of sizes during baby showers. They said they were inundated with newborn clothes, only to have to go out within a month after the baby was born and buy bigger clothes.

Oh! Yes, we have TONS of that kind of clothes. We have robots, jungle animals, sports, cars, puppies, etc. But the advice on bigger clothes definitely applies. Now, when see fun clothes we like, we just get them, even if it's for future use.
