Anthropologist Steve Striffler (University of Arkansas) will speak on “Colombia, Coal, and Transnational Labor Solidarity.” The focus is on the effects of coal mining on indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities.
Striffler has appeared on various public radio shows speaking on “banana politics” in Latin America and the industrialization of chicken in the United States. He’s also the author of books on the subjects.
