Hahaha, very funny. So how has it worked with cats and the baby? They accepted him right away? N.

For most of the first month, we didn't let the cats near him. We also slept with our doors closed, so the cats couldn't come in while we slept. We're starting to relax a little—but always keeping an eye on them, of course.

So far, only Watson seems interested in being near him. And then it seems like he just wants to be friendly (he's a very friendly cat). So we think it's OK.

Yeah, sleeping with the cat should be ok. My brothers and I all grew up with cats in the crib and we've all got photos of various cats sleeping with us.

Interestingly, a few months ago, I read an article (NYT, I think) reporting on a study that said that people who'd grown up with cats around them, especially at an early age, usually have few or no allergies. I can only say that I and my two brothers are not allergic to anything and in fact, two of us are immune to things like poison oak, ivy, etc. Btw, we all like cats!
