Javi’s first road trip

February 19, 2008

Last weekend we took Javi on his first road trip. The first stop was Wilmington (Delaware), to drop his abuelitos (my parents) off w/ tío Andy & Saloumeh before their flight back to Bolivia. Then a stop at his great grandparents’ home for the night.

From there, we drove north for a family wedding in Shelton, Connecticut (also my first time in Connecticut). The wedding was fun. Though it’s funny how “loud” things seem once you have a baby! Javi got to meet a number of great uncles & great aunts, and other assorted family members.

From there, we came back through New York City. We stayed a night w/ K8’s friends who live in the outer edges of the Bronx. Javi got his first NYC experience, w/ a subway ride into SoHo for some sight seeing. We shopped at some baby boutiques & consignment shops (mostly window shopping), followed by some Korean for dinner.

And then back to little Carlisle, PA.

It was our first “long distance” trip w/ a baby in tow. Yes, it involves much more work than a normal adults-only excursion. But it’s quite manageable (thank you, Baby Bjorn!). He’s still small enough that traveling at 6-7 weeks old is easy: he can’t walk or crawl, and falls asleep instantly in the car seat. But I’m sure that will change soon enough.
