New tricks

February 26, 2008

I missed it, because he’s in Delaware. But Javi has learned a new trick: He can now roll over onto his side. Not all the way over, mind you, just onto his side. K8 emailed me the news. Apparently, he prefers to sleep on his side (something I already knew, since he would sleep better if I turned him onto his left side).

Sunday, he had discovered how to suck his thumb (which saves us from waking up at night to put a dropped pacifier back in his mouth). It’s funny how quickly they start to learn little things.

You will be glad that he doesn't use a pacifier until he is 5 years old like some children do!

I got rid of the pacifier when my son had a bad cold at the age of 1 1/2 because I was worried that he was recycling his germs and he hasn't gone back since.

Of course thumb sucking is a difficult habit to break too but the boy is only a few months old! My nephew is 8 and the only way my sister was able to get him to stop sucking his thumb was for the orthodontist to insert a device in the roof of his mouth which pinches his thumb if he puts it in his mouth!
