I’m Miguel Centellas, a political science professor at Mount St. Mary’s University. Because of academic interests, I post frequently on Bolivian politics. I also occasionally discuss interesting books, pop culture, and daily life in Baltimore.
K8 & I have a wager on the Texas primary. I’m certain Obama will win by at least 10 points. The stakes: dinner at a restaurant of the winner’s choice; loser pays. As of today, I’m pretty confident that Hillary can’t beat the spread. Thoughts on dining options?
---- Editorial note: I should also make it clear that I am not endorsing or backing either candidate in this post. As a political scientist, I am only making a prediction.
Sounds like you're paying either way :) I have a feeling we're going to be hearing alot more about Clinton pushing to have the Michigan and Florida delegates count if you're right. It has the potential to get really ugly if Obama continues to gather steam.

Nope. We have separate bank accounts. :-)
And, yes, it has gotten ugly. I'm honestly not sure why she's still in the race.
She has neither changed her tone. Doesn't she realize that people like Obama in part because he's promising a bipartisan reconcilliation? So why keep talking about how she's been in the partisan trenches for decades? I think voters are sick of that.
Nor has she shed her robotic persona.
I think if she doesn't get it by now, she won't ever get it. If she tries to lawyer up and "Gore" her way to a victory (how did that work out for him, eh?) it'll be a total train wreck.
I'm surprised with the way democrats are running things too. I know both Obama and Clinton are thisclose to being tied. But I would think that one of them would put their ego aside and do what's best for the party and step aside politely. At least Romney was smart enough to do so and Huckabee knows he can't beat Mc Cain. I get the feeling from Clinton that she thinks it's HER turn for the nomination despite the fact that since 2000 she's denied running for president.
Oh well. If the two of them are going to be that hotheaded I say let them waste all their money, resources, and energy on each other. They'll probably run out of everything by the time the general election comes around.
And Nicholas Kristof found this funny site about Bush-Clinton Forever to keep both dynasties going on until the end of time. I told my students if their parents were under 45 they have never seen a ballot without the last name Bush or Clinton on it.

Yep. Anyone under the drinking age has never been alive w/o a Bush or a Clinton in the White House. A Bush or a Clinton has been president for 9.1% of the country's 219 years as a republic (since Washington's election in 1789).
In that case, may I recommend Eat n Park? That has to hurt more than Red Lobster.

In honor of Texas, might I suggest the Lone Star Steakhouse? Be sure to tell the wait staff that it's her birthday, so that she gets a song and a ride on a saddle they bring by for the moment.
As far as the race, I'm just hoping that the Schaefer jinx won't affect Obama. So far, every time I send money or help with a Democratic candidate in the primary--that person ends up losing. Bill Bradley, Howlin Dean, etc...

Oh, Patrick, good call! I think there is one around here somewhere ... I was also thinking about Cracker Barrell.
Well, good news is that I agree that Obama will take Texas. Bad news is that I don't think he'll take it by 10 points. Polls tonight, Thursday, as I watch the Texas debate, indicate that it's dead heat in Texas between Obama and Clinton, and Obama slightly behind in Ohio. Still, I think (hope, anyway) that Obama will be our next President....
Check out today's New York Times article on the courting of Gov. Bill Richardson (NM) by both Clinton and Obamba. He is one Latino who will help either candidate.
As for the Texas race: White female or Black male? A dilemna that Michael Jackson faces every morning. (Jay Leno) :)

I think I actually lost this bet. Hubris got the best of me. Ouch.
