Two LAS speakers next week

If you’re in the Dickinson area next week, you may be interested in the next installments of our Latin American Studies speaker series.

LAS speaker (Weltman)On Monday (Feb 25), Talia Weltman will speak on Afro-Mexican cultural production. Weltman is a PhD candidate at Duke University. Her talk, “Cimarronaje cultural: Towards a Re-mapping of Afromexicanidad” is co-sponsored by the American Studies & Africana Studies programs at Dickinson.

LAS speaker (Wasserman)On Tuesday (Feb 26), Mark Wasserman will speak on the 19th century in Latin America. Wasserman is a history professor at Rutgers University, an author of several books on Latin American history. His talk, “Age of Chaos or Golden Age?” is co-sponsored by the History and Spanish & Portuguese departments at Dickinson.
