Oxford, Mississippi

By now everyone that needed to be notified has been, and so it’s appropriate to broadcast: I’m moving to Oxford, Mississippi.

K8 has taken a position in the Croft Institute at Ole Miss. It’s a great position, she’s excited, and I’m excited for her. So I’m leaving the Mount & tagging along, hoping that something comes through for me. I’ve put in some proposals for first-year seminars, but it’s very much a wait-and-see mode.

We’ll miss Baltimore, which we only just started to get to know. It’s a lovely city—think Midwest casualness meets Southern hospitality meets metropolitan bohemia. If anyone ever considers relocating, you won’t be disappointed. We’re hoping to squeeze as much exploring in the area before we move sometime in late May. At least I want to squeeze in one more trip to Camden Yards.

It’s a little scary giving up a tenure track post for an uncertain future. But the possibility of settling down (particularly thinking of Javi’s future) in a quaint college town is too appealing. I have to roll a hard six, but I’m feeling particularly optimistic.

Wow, good luck!

Good luck.

Geez, you seem to be a similar nomad as I have been lately. Let's hope the next is the place to settle.
Since you are moving to MS and I am not sure I will be in Washington in October - I look forward to seeing you at the MPSA in Chicago.

Giving up a tenure track position for one's partner shows true love. :) Keep the analysis coming. Those of us interested in an outside analysis of the Bolivian reality are counting on it. Good luck to you both.

you're gonna *love* it down here, Miguel

good luck on the move..
